America. It is the land of paradoxes. In the midst of plenty, there is need. In the joy of youth, we see the loneliness of old age. In the richness of health, there is the affliction of disease. And in the midst of nature's awesome beauty, we risk the loss of our precious environment.

But America is also the land of dreams -- and the land of dreamers who are do-ers, who give of themselves and their resources to ensure that America's dreams come true. They deal in strength and optimism, matching dreams to possibilities, and then to realities. These dreamers -- philanthropists of America who contribute time, talent and financial support -- replace helplessness with hope, and despair with action.

Philanthropists are the healers of today and the architects of tomorrow...the visionaries who make things happen and turn dreams into reality...

These words, spoken at a National Philanthropy Day, express eloquently the sentiments of all of us here at L.W. Robbins Associates.

Direct mail each year turns America's dreams into reality by inspiring millions of Americans to donate tens of billions of dollars. In 1970, when I founded L.W. Robbins Associates, I pledged our constant, best efforts to achieve superior results for our clients...reality-makers like you. We began by providing -- and we continue to provide -- honest, hard work and the highest degree of professionalism.

Looking back, I'm proud that my pledge to myself and to our numerous clients has been continuously honored and that helplessness can be remedied and needs provided for. I am proud that the name of L.W. Robbins Associates is today still synonymous with integrity, reliability and success.
